RLJ - Daniel actually came to a show I did in New Orleans years ago. I didn't know much about him but he approached me and we chatted for a while and his studio manager delivered me a brochure about his studio later that evening. It had naked people wearing Mardi Gras masks holding old guitars and playing pool. I thought" what a great place to record". I never did anything with him but have recently found out he did this new cd Called "Belladonna", which I have never heard.
To answer your question, he had no influence on this recording, but I respect him as a producer and a song writer.
Connect - Why go to the trouble of creating this storyline and character of Charlie Shoe? Why not just say, hey this instrument inspired me to write these tunes, and I got way into this head - here you go?
RLJ -Vernon has forever disappeared. Charlie is the only living person that can play any of Vernon's songs.
Charlie saw Vernon play at a church picnic when he was 9 years old.
Vernon wandered up out of no where and asked if they would feed him if he played a couple of tunes.
Charlie has an unusual condition that similar to autism...he was able to memorize the songs having only heard them once.
His parents recognized his enthusiasm from the encounter a bought him a cheap guitar from sears and roebuck.
The same folklorist that found Vernon much later found out about Charlie and searched him out. Charlie was inspired to continue his love of the guitar and created quite a style all his own.
He still lives with his parents out side of Marked Tree AR and works on small engines with his dad.
