The influence of the great acoustic jazz group Oregon comes through strongly in this offering by guitarist Johnson, and it features two Oregon sidemen: Paul McCandless on oboe, soprano sax and cor anglais, and Glen Moore, double bass.
Johnson himself creates finely-spun improvisations on a variety of acoustic guitars including a 12 and six string double-neck instrument, and although his technique is exemplary and his compositions tasteful, the disc treads ground which has perhaps been worn too well. However, the guitarist's obvious talent holds the promise of greater work to come.
